    Nearby attractions and conveniences

    Being close to Bukit Bintang and the heart of Kuala Lumpur has its advantages.
    You can walk to places of interest anytime you feel like it. We are in one of the safest areas in the city as the KL Police Contingent is in the vicinity. Police personnel come and go throughout the day and as such there's hardly any crime for as long as we can remember.

    Places of interest near Sarang Rooms:-
    1. Jalan Alor food street. You have an excellent choice of food 24 hours a day. The food variety is amazing. Choice of local or international dishes. Carnival like atmosphere when night comes where the street lights come on and tables and chairs line the street. A definite visit for the first timers. There is also a good range of fine dining western restaurants just off Jalan Alor. Try the durians when in season. It's to die for! Malaysian fruit season is from June - September and there are a couple of fruit stalls where you can sample a variety of local fruits like mangosteen, dragon fruit, Josapine, etc.
    2. Times Square. Largest single phase mall in the world with hundreds of retail outlets, indoor theme park, cinemas, eateries, bowling centre, etc. Just a short walk away.
    3. Hop On Hop Off Bus stop No.7 at Jalan Tengkat Tung Shin. RM38 per person for 12 hours. As the name suggests you can get off the bus as you like and visit the 17 - 20 stops along the way. Any unused portion of the 12 hour ticket can be used the following day. Bus is air-conditioned.Great way to tour the city on a double-decker. When it is not raining try to get a bus with an open top;
    4. Puduraya Bus Terminal. Please take note that the terminal is currently under renovation. All buses have been redirected to the new terminal at Bukit Jalil. Shuttle buses by Rapid KL operates every 15 mins to ferry passengers from and to Puduraya for RM2 per person one-way. Journet takes about 20-30min approx. depending on traffic conditions. Otherwise the bus terminal can be reached by LRT. The station is about 50 meters from the bus terminal. If you ar ecoming from Bukit Jalil to Puduraya you may ask the bus driver to stop you in front of the Swiss Garden and from there it is about a 3 min walk to the Sarang guesthouses. Regular trips from Puduraya will resume once the upgrade has been completed. Ticket counters operated by Transnasional and Plusliner are still at Puduraya at the Plazat Rakyat LRT station.
    5. Chinatown. You can walk or take the monorail to Maharajaleela Station. Lots of cheap bargains. It's just past Puduraya. If you are not into shopping you would be interested in the heritage buildings around Jalan Petaling. Central Market is in the neighbourhood and is worth a visit to view some of the local handicrafts. There's also a quaint Nonya Restaurant with an old world charm;
    6. KL Tower. Great views of the city. Go for the afternoon tea deal for RM2 more at RM40. This way you don't have to jostle with the crowd. For the price you get a coffee/tea and a piece of cake. There's also an interesting nature walk at the base of the tower where you can get a glimpse of our rainforests. From here it is a short walk to KLCC;
    7. Petronas Twin Towers. By taxi or monorail from Hang Tuah to Bukit Nanas station and walk 10 mins;
    8. Pudu Jail. 100 years of history. No longer in use but is a historical landmark in the city;
    9. Little India in Brickfields. Most interesting place to experience Indian culture. Good shopping too!;
    10. Kampung Baru. See the Malay village lifestyle. Visit the Chow Kit market as well. Go by monorail to Chow Kit.
    11. Dataran Merdeka. Historical buildings, 100yr old Masjid Jamek, St Mary's Church, Selangor Club;
    12. Bukit Bintang. 9 shopping complexes in the vicinity. Shop till you drop.Great bargains! This is a major tourist attraction in KL. You can walk there in 5 mins.
    13. Night Bazaars. Guided tours by Michael and Christina. Go where the locals go to eat and shop. Try all the delicious snacks like the "Smelly Tou Fu", salt baked chicken, fried "Carrot Cake", Chinese dumplings, Malay kueh, etc;
    14. Wet Market Tour. Guided tour by the hosts. By request only. Visit the few wet markets still operating where fresh local produce and livestock is sold each morning. Come and try a variety of  local dishes found only in wet markets;
    15. Malaysian Handicraft Centre. Showcase of all the crafts from the different states of Malaysia. There are regular handicraft fairs organized by the centre where you can get a good bargain. Good place to pick up souvenirs for your friends back home;
    16. Batek Centre. Excellent range of batek clothes for men & women. Batek painting classes also available. You get to take back your piece of art at the end of the session;
    17. Fish Spa. If you haven't tried this - it is a must. Outlets found on Jalan Bukit Bintang. Be prepared for a eerie / fun time;
    18. Foot reflexology and full body massage. Be pampered and relax after a hard day at shopping. We usually recommend the blind masseurs in Brickfields. Otherwise we can arrange for your massage in the guest houses;
    19. Entertainment. Cinemas, pubs, karoake, bistros, fine dining, discos, live bands, etc;
    20. The Malaysian Philharmonic. This state of the art performance hall is situated at the base of the famous Petronas Twin Towers. It regularly features international guest artistes of renown. Cheaper matinee tickets are available from time to time. Also watch out for performances for children.
